The True Family of Jesus
Today's liturgy reminds us that the course we follow must be that of doing "the will of God" - no simple navigation. We need to take careful stock regarding those in whom we place our trust, those whom we choose to follow.
We are warned to be discerning when it comes to leadership, wary when it comes to power. But we are also assured that by following Christ, our leader, we will experience a different kind of power, become a new sort of disciple, and dwell in a radically new relationship with God.
Discussion
1. Who are the true leaders in your parish community? How do you know? Are they the same as the "official" leaders?
2. When have you followed a leader gladly? What was that like? When have you chafed under someone's leadership? Why?
3. Where is Christ leading you today? How willing are you to follow?
