God So Loved Us
The resolution to change and live in the light is the grace and work of Lent. We are over halfway there on this Laetare or "Rejoicing" Sunday. We can rejoice that Lent is half over and that spring is near.
But the greater rejoicing is in the knowledge that we are being drawn out of our sad, isolated darkness into the light of the Resurrection. The question is this: Do we want to come out of the thick, clotting darkness? Do we want to live?
Discussion
1. Nicodemus supplied the spices needed for Jesus' burial (John 19:39). This was his public identification with Jesus. Do we risk acting publicly as a believing Christian, come what may?
2. Describe one time in your life (or another's) when you took on the hard work of conversion - of a kind of death that led to life.
