Christmas - Scripture Discussion
Advent prepares us for another coming, a Second Coming. Advent points to the coming of Christ at the end of time. That's why Advent entails waiting and attention. We wait for the Lord's return. We pay attention lest we miss it or are unprepared to receive him when he comes.
During Advent and Christmas God also comes home to us, in the here and now, and we to God. An old saying reminds us that "home is where the heart is." Advent is the time and season for us to discover our own hearts, to prepare our hearts for Love's coming. Then, at Christmas time, we can lay our hearts to rest, secure in the heart of God--home at last, in time and beyond.
