Computer Databases
Database design, installation and maintenance are not "rocket science". Database tools and tool kits come in a variety of shapes, sizes and flavors. Here are a few from this vast array of choices, some of which I have used.
Free Databases
Treepad PIM / Database & Word Processor. I use Treepad for an email archive, MIS procedures, and Bookkeeping documentation. Treepad can be used for an unlimited number of applications.
MS Office Templates include a number of Microsoft Access templates. FREE, download from this link.
Caché 5.0.1, Personal Version is available FREE. Caché derives much of its power from its unique architecture. At the core, the Caché Database Engine provides a complete set of services. These include data storage, concurrency management, transactions, and process management needed to build complex database management systems. You can think of the Caché engine as a powerful database toolkit. Using this toolkit, Caché implements a complete object and relational database management system.
Entry Level Databases

"Video films". HiBase 2000 is a good choice for your database needs (home & office).
I have not used this one. A producut review mentions not being able to sort by column or
browse by column.

IBM AS/400 Database, the "More Power" solution, IBM's iSeries Midrange Computer.
